How do I Take Care of Natural Bar Soap?

To increase the life of natural bar soap is best to keep it dry between uses. Do not leave it in standing water. We recomend using slated trays and leaving the soap where it can air dry until the next use. If using pouches, hang the pouch in an area where it can get plenty of air.

How is Your Soap Different from What I Purchase in the Store?

Our soap is made the old fashioned way (combining fatty acids or oils and a strong base or sodium hydroxide). We use raw, natural, plant based ingredients in a cold process method that creates a glycerin that is hydrating. Most commercial brands found in the store are actually detergents that have the glycerin stripped out of the soap which is drying to the skin. The stripped glycerin is then used in other products such as lotions.

All soaps do strip natural body oils from skin. Soap works to clean because one end of the molecule is attracted to water and the other isn't. This traps oils and dirt and washes them away. Our soaps are created with a slightly higher amount of oils than required to form all of the soap molecules. This excess un-bonded oil in the soap gets in the way of the hydrophobic end of the molecule and our body oil when washing to reduce the amount of stripping.
